Every time I listen to this, I can’t believe it was recorded in 1964. Written and sang by Ray Davies, this song rocks from the opening guitar riff to the very last bar. The guitar solo is out of this world, with the bass keeping the riff going, it moves the song into another groove.

I don’t think that any other group in 1964, including The Beatles were doing anything as gritty as this, and to me this was way ahead of its time. If you don’t know this song then have a listen, and I’m sure you will not find it a waste of your time.
