Wings - C-Moon – 1972
It was written by Paul and Linda McCartney. Paul got the
L7 idea from a song called Woolly Bully, where they use the line L7 which means
square, and Paul had the idea of using a C and a crescent moon to make C Moon,
a circle. This to him means cool. (Wikipedia)
I’ve always loved this song, mainly for the opening line,
it’s so cool, as if they just turned up and thought, what shall we do today? Oh
let’s write a song!
I have never really liked any rock/pop artist doing a
reggae song; it just doesn’t work for me. However, this is a true exception. I
love the quirky nonsensical lyrics and the simple beat, and as usual with Paul
McCartney, it has great melodies too.
This is another of those songs that I can play countless times
and never get bored with. I think it mainly is the lyrics I like, another
favourite line is “fill my head glue”, wonderful imagery!
