Marvin Gaye - I Want You - 1976

Listen on YouTube

To many fans like myself, Marvin Gaye was 'The Prince Of Soul', 'The Prince Of Motown'.

No doubt, his best album, the album that epitomizes him the most would be "What's Going On".

And it's hard to argue that,.................... but then there is this one -

I was recently tagged by a friend on Facebook, to list ten albums that greatly influenced my taste in music. I hadn't 'tagged', or been tagged before - it all seemed a bit like work.

But it stuck with me. I liked the idea of sharing those albums that meant so much to me. The problem was narrowing it down to only ten. In the end I realized that if I had to jump off a pirate radio ship with only ten albums, this one had to be amongst them.

Not only was it one of my all-time favourites ( or favorites - US), but it has, in my mind one of the most mesmerizing tracks I have ever heard.

It was Kensington High Street on a warm, balmy summer night. Pure class, pure escapism; the track, ironically the instrumental version, in particular - "After The Dance".
